Hey guys, long time no talk. I thought I would stop writing the blogs over the Christmas break so I could have some time to relax. Anyway who wants to read a blog during this time when you could be at the beach or binge watching a T.V. show?
Happy New Year! I hope 2017 is going well so far for you.
If you have been reading my blog posts you might get the idea that I am kind of stuck in my life at the moment (which is very frustrating).
Most of you don’t know this but I didn’t get high enough grades to get into the Masters of Dietetics which is the qualification I would have needed to get a job working as a Dietitian which is the job my Nutrition degree leads into. This was crushing for me and although I never really told anyone it is very upsetting to see four years of learning with very little career prospects. But all you can do in a situation like that is move on and work out what is the best option moving forward. Looking at my life now, I don’t know if that would have been the right career for me and I definitely wouldn’t have met some of the awesome people I have had the opportunity of meeting through my jobs.
If you are feeling stuck, not knowing what direction to take. A good first step is to start finding out more of what you like, what your values are, how you handle different situations, what holds your attention and things you can do without getting tired. As any self help book will tell you ” Your interests are not there by accident, they are your calling” not everyone thinks like you, you are unique.
Getting to know who you are and what you really like is an an exciting process, a lot of the time growing up we forget who we are and what we really do like.
Some of the things that I have done to remember what I like and who I am is:
Spend time alone – I went to Bali for a week alone and this was great I also just try to get some alone time everyday.
Challenging workouts to test mental strength – this can help build up your resilience and make you realize you are much stronger then you thought.
Look back at what I enjoyed as a child- This helps to remind yourself what you used to like before any outside influences could tell you otherwise.
Speak to friends and/or a councilor – Sometimes just speaking to someone about your current life situation you will say something about yourself to them which is the answer you have been looking for.
Read books – I always am reading a book and try to read something everyday this helps to broaden your perspective.
Watch YouTube videos – I love watching videos about life and success. My favorite are by Gary Vee, Kyle Cease and I have also watched this Jim Carry speech here countless times.
For those wondering what I like, I would say: Fashion, music and going to music festivals, learning, weight training, natural health, reading, spirituality and writing (and more!).
But remember who you are as a person is so much more then this, not only do you have your interests but you have your own values, sense of humor and energy about you.
The more you learn about yourself, the more you can show this to the world.
People have a wide range of interests and that’s what makes us so complex as humans.
Remember no one is perfect, life is a journey not a destination so go out there and find what works for you. Life can be fun and if something is not working try to understand why and start making small changes to fix the problem. This is hard but so worthwhile! Life should not always be good but the frustrating and bad times are there for a reason to help you see that it is time for a change or maybe even time to change your perspective.
Hopefully this is helpful or at least you know that you are not alone :).
Keep on trying new things and being positive, when something doesn’t feel right anymore remember it is time for a change.
Also hopefully you can get some ideas on how to dress for a fun night out.
Dare to be seen.
Take care,
Anna 🙂

Great post.
It really acknowledges the challenge of trying to find that direction or life calling.
I definitely struggled at times, however I now have a sense of direction after reading some books based on Stoicism.
So definitely recommend the tip about reading some books, I will have to try the other tips!
Thanks for the blog.
