Hey guys, how is your week so far? Mine has been okay, but if anyone has any ideas on how to get out of a rut I would be happy to hear them! I thought I would write about my holiday in Bali and how nice and relaxing it was, even though I was basically staying in the heart of Kuta, it didn’t matter and I would completely recommend it.

Towards the end of last year I realized that if I didn’t go on a holiday I might actually go crazy, or crazier ;). So I decided to go to Bali since its relatively cheap and close by.

I went to Bali by myself from the 31st December – 6th January. When traveling I often think of this quote: “If you want to go fast go alone, If you want to go far go together”. While I completely agree with this idea, sometimes circumstances just do not permit this to happen and you might need to go alone, wherever that might be. I wanted to do everything myself and not rely on other people for help, which I would normally do when traveling with others. I wanted to be alone and not talk as much as I much as I normally do during the day. I just needed to be quite for a while and get away from my life, which worked!

My holiday was for 6 nights and I stayed at The One Legian. As the holiday was booked late and through peak season, there wasn’t really that much to choose from, but from the hotels available I knew I wanted to feel safe as I was going to be alone. The One is a very safe hotel with security out the front and my room had a triple lock inside, which gave me peace of mind.

During my time in Bali, the days where all spent in a similar way:

In the Morning I woke up around 8:00am and got ready. I had breakfast at the hotel breakfast buffet, which I really enjoyed and it has a wide selection of breakfast food. I had three courses every morning; you have to be indulgent sometime 😉 !

The days almost all consisted of having a massage early on except for the one morning I did yoga at  Seminyak Yoga Shala –  this is a beautiful place to do yoga and only a 15minute drive by taxi from my hotel. The massages I had where all relaxing and therapeutic, my favorite place  Bali Spring was affordable and tranquil. The massages I had there where just what I wanted and the massage therapist even cracked my back and it felt so much better! At another massage parlor I had an “Auravedic” massage for 90mins, although 30 of those involved putting strange oil in my hair and dripping water onto my face, I would recommend not doing something like that.

I made sure I went to the pool everyday to swim, relax and do some reading on the deck chairs. I also enjoyed sitting on the giant couches in the lobby of the hotel that overlooked the street to watch the world go by.

I wasn’t really sure where to go for food so on my first day I just happened to go into the best casual restaurant called Fat Chow Bali which is an Asian Fusion restaurant, it serves some of the best food I have ever had in my life, if you are in Kuta you have to go! I went there 3 times, but I wish I went more to eat all of the delicious dishes. The other restaurants I went to didn’t really compare. Although below my hotel was a stall selling street food and I got the Mee Goreng a couple of times which had great flavors and was only $2.00.

Should you travel alone? YES! You will discover so much about yourself that you might not have found if you are with others. Traveling with others is also great but why not try both if you can to see how it feels. Besides traveling alone for a week isn’t really that long ;).

If I can do it, so can you.

Below is some of my photos from Bali as well as some outfit inspiration as to what to wear, remember it is so HOT!

Take care of yourself and remember its okay to be seen,

Anna 🙂 x
